Currently 80 percent of the cultivated agricultural land in Haiti is chemical-free and 100 percent is organic. Haitian Bleu (HB) was created in 1994, between Gary Tallboy, the former President of Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), and the Haitian producers of FACN and managed by agro-economist Stephen Jean-Pierre. It was Haiti's first specialty coffee brand. Today the brand is wholly owned by Fédération des Associations Caféiéres Natives (FACN) a co-op of over 400 farmers in the Jacmel Valley to the South East. HB first introduced washed processing techniques to yield high value for its unique blue-green colored beans.
